Thus Far... Looking Back, Reaching Forward

“Thus Far…”

Psalm 23: 6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me…”

2017 marks a significant benchmark for Phoenix First Apostolic Church, a prominent church in South Phoenix, as our Senior Pastor, Frank Romo Jr., celebrates twenty-five years pastoring this fast growing, multi-cultural and influential church.  We would like to take a moment to introduce you to a man that through his life, dedication and love for people has impacted thousands of lives that have crossed his path, many of them now long-standing members of PFAC.

Pastor Romo was born on February 3, 1954 in Bakersfield, CA to Frank and Dolores Romo.  He has two siblings, Gilberto Romo and Alicia Franco.  At the young age of nineteen, Pastor Romo made the decision to dedicate his life to the service of the Lord.  After being baptized by Pastor Leonardo Sepulveda, he began his ministry shortly thereafter. Since then, Pastor Romo has dedicated his life to the service of God, reaching out to the lost of this community.

On February 14, 1976, Pastor Romo married the love of his life, Estella, and later they were blessed with the births of their four children: Anna Marie, Anthony, Cesia and Vanessa.  Three of their children are married and their family has grown to include seven beautiful grandchildren.

Pastor Romo has become a prophetic voice to many.   Early on in his ministry, it became apparent through the confirmation of influential voices in his life that he would be set apart to impact not only his community but that his ministry would expand to other parts of the world.  Through his vision to plant ten churches, Phoenix First Apostolic church has birthed several works in the valley, Mexico and Guatemala.

One of Pastor Romo’s God-assigned commissions is not only to win the lost, but to disciple those around him, teaching and instructing them how to reach their highest potential, not only in their daily walks with God but also in their personal lives.   He is a highly sought after conference speaker and has been a featured speaker for marriage seminars, church growth conferences, ministers and wives conferences, and national conventions.

The lives of Pastor Romo and his family have been tested throughout the years, but on February 12, 2015, Pastor Romo would endure the most difficult of trials when a blood clot in his leg traveled up to his heart, causing his heart to stop beating for more than twenty minutes. His doctors did not give him much hope for survival.  Doctors informed his family that if he survived, he would never be able to function normally; he would be unable to speak or walk on his own.  The news of this incident traveled rapidly and people throughout the nation and world began to pray for Pastor Romo.  In less than one year he was back ministering, and now two and half years later, despite all odds and medical opinions, Pastor Romo has regained strength, is pastoring and traveling the nation proclaiming the Gospel and testifying of God’s healing power.

Phoenix First Apostolic Church celebrates this joyous occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Pastor and Sister Romo shepherding our church. We celebrate the life of this godly man who has dedicated  his life to loving God and sharing God's love and truth with others; a man who is an inspiration to all who have the privilege of knowing him.  We thank you for joining us today for this special occasion as we honor this very deserving couple.
